Innokin Scion II Sub-Ohm Tank Review
By Matthew G.
Oh great, another sub-ohm tank review. Yes, while that may be true, I want to share a little more about my experience. A fair disclaimer before I begin- I'm not new to vaping. I've had RDA's and a few different sub-ohm tanks and I've come to a fairly solid conclusion about the Scion II. Is it worth the money? These days you can get a fairly good price for one. It comes with tools, extra glass, and two coils. A solid deal, right? Yeah, I guess so. Would I buy it again? Probably not. It's not a bad tank. It fit's well on my VooPoo Drag with very little overhang. (If you're wondering) However, it's been my experience that the flavor is a little dull. It's a plus that Innokin has the plexus coils with mesh lining, but it feels more gimmicky than anything else. They claim that the coils last X-times longer, but I've had a few coils that utterly failed on me.
The mesh broke apart and with each inhale came a mouth full of burnt vapor and small particulates of charred coil. Utterly disturbing to say the least. The Scion II was the first time that I thought about the health repercussions of vaping all together. Wow, could this be really bad for me? I've never stooped low enough to think about picking up cigarettes again, but I had thoughts that I had never had before.
So, my first week using the tank made me question my vice of vaping all together. Needless to say I didn't stop. The experience had sort of strengthened my resolve. So I bought new coils, burnt them for a few weeks, and experienced a somewhat better experience. However, despite the coils that I used the flavor was muted. I thought it was the juice that I had, and then compared it to the flavor on my RDA. The result was still the same. It wasn't the juice. I constricted the air flow on my scion II hoping to deliver a better vaping experience, but once again I was greeted by tasteless smoke. Well, not completely tasteless, of course.
Would I recommend buying this tank to a friend? Perhaps, to someone who hasn't experienced the full, rich, and robust flavors that other tanks offer. Maybe even to a new vapor or someone looking for a sub-ohm tank that's looking for an economic way to vape over a quality vaping experience. I would not recommend buying this tank at full price. If you can find it for, let's say, more than 50% and you have a coupon I would recommend buying it. Maybe, just to say that you too have tried it and perhaps it can give you a stronger resolve for vaping like it did for me.
There is nothing remarkable about this tank. It is average in almost every conceivable category, and arguably sub-par when it comes other tanks like the Uwell Valyrian or the Crown 3. The build quality is good, but it often leaks in my pocket. I did enjoy having two coils with it and a replacement glass, but I suppose they give you more to compensate for their under-performing product. Needless to say, I regret buying the tank and often prefer a nice RDA instead. Perhaps it's personal preference or maybe you too will have a similar experience. Buy it if you wish, but I cannot recommend it to neither friend or foe.
