It’s my favorite time of the year again, GeekVape is extending the Aegis family again with this latest device. This time it looks like GeekVape is going for the compact pod device market in a big way. Built with the same bulletproof technology you’ve come to expect from them, the Aegis Boost is the most rugged and durable pod device in the world. 

Coming on the heels of a few new mods from GeekVape, namely the Aegis X and the Aegis Squonk devices, this latest pod device crams all the best vape technology into one easy to use package. But how does it measure up against the competition, and just how durable is it really?

In this review, I’ll take you through everything you need to know about the GeekVape Aegis Boost. 

The Looks

This latest device from GeekVape follows in its predecessor’s footsteps in terms of design, featuring a highly ergonomic design with soft stitched leather accents. GeekVape made the Boost with functionality and durability in mind, but they left room for a unique form factor as well. The design follows that of the Aegis Solo mod with its rounded leather grip on one side and a crisp OLED screen on the other. With the pod attached it's just a bit taller than the Solo, but it also has a slightly slimmer form factor. My only complaint is that it doesn’t look like they’re doing different colors for the leather grip section, at least for now. 

The Boost steps away from traditional pod filling methods and adds a top fill port that’s accessible while the cartridge is still plugged in. Built with the high-tech military-grade IP67 Water-resistance, dust-resistance, and shock-resistance that you’re used to in the Aegis devices. I’ve dropped mine from 5ft+ multiple times and I still haven’t had a single issue aside from a few scrapes here and there. The buttons on the front face of the device serve to protect the screen from cracking during impact, and the rubberized inlays along the bottom and sides make sure the internal mechanics are somewhat shock-proofed. 

I like the metal accents on the sides of the device, they add a nice touch of color to the otherwise plain and rubbery device. 

How it Works

This is hands down the best pod device I’ve ever used and with how durable it is I get the feeling I’m going to be using it for years to come. The size and shape of the pod are just perfect for everyday vaping and I even took it with me on a few Motorcycle Rides. As luck would have it, it’s actually small enough that I can vape it with my helmet still on. I’m not sure how relevant vaping in a motorcycle helmet is to you guys, but it gets a +1 from me in that department!

There’s variable wattage control with nice tactile buttons that have a great click anytime you’re playing with them. With it’s 1500mAh internal battery the wattage goes all the way up to 40W and pumps some seriously large clouds. Flavor is on par with the GeekVape Bident, my previous top pick for pod flavor, even at the higher wattages. If you’re looking for something that provides great taste while still pushing sizeable clouds, this is the pod device for you. 

There are some great new plug coils coming with the Boost as well. Featuring two mesh style coils in 0.4Ω and 0.6Ω as well as a new RDTA style cartridge coil. I’ve seen rebuildable pods done before but never like this, these seem highly approachable even for newer users. Paired with the new AS Chipset these coils are running through the gambit between boosted power, overheat protection, and automatic resistance adjustments to ensure maximum performance with every puff.   

I love that GeekVape took the airflow adjustment and put it right in the middle of the front section on the cartridge. Too many pod devices hide the airflow at the bottom of the coil or the cartridge section so you can’t adjust airflow without taking it apart. The Boost provides one of the simplest and most effective airflow control solutions I’ve ever seen on a pod device, and it works superbly. With the airflow ring closed the draw is virtually nonexistent, the mark of some seriously airtight manufacturing. 

The Verdict

If you’re interested in vaping on the go and you’d like a device that can take anything you can throw at it, you want the Boost. This a vape pod that can go with you hiking over mountains, whitewater rafting in rivers, and dirt biking in the desert, or more realistically, get dropped about a hundred times on your floor. Not to mention with its fully airtight system, as long as you remember to close the airflow port, you can trust the waterproofing to do it’s job even in the wettest conditions. 

The thing that always turned me off of the Aegis series was the size of those devices, I’m not big on lugging around a triple battery mod even if it is one of the best devices on the market. With the Boost, GeekVape has proven that they can fit a whole lot of vaping power into a tiny package and still have it meet IP67 test standards. I’m personally very happy with my Boost and I plan on using it for years to come!
